Pretty easy setup for security cameras

This doorbell camera has been added to Costco's 8ch/8cam Lorex NVR NVR system. The installation went as described in the instructions without the problems described in the low star reviews. other than those I have listed below. Some important notes: - This or any other wireless device CANNOT be added to our Lorex NVR system if all camera ports are used, even if it is wireless. The instructions for the 8-channel/8-camera NVR system state that you can only use 6 of the 8 camera ports (Power over Ethernet) to add a wireless device. I didn't realize it until today when I installed the wireless doorbell camera. It's added to a free mobile app called LOREX HOME (Google or Apple Store), which surprisingly works pretty well so far. This means we can't use the Lorex PC app to see our doorbell camera, but we have cameras that cross each other's field of view in front of our house, so this isn't a problem in our situation. - When the doorbell camera is powered. and after you install an additional device in our doorbell, the doorbell will only sound AFTER you set up the device with Wi-Fi and the LOREX Home App. To install the PC software, you must create a username and password and answer security questions. but this is not a lorex account. The doorbell camera required its own password. Installing the PC software on every computer we own required creating our own account name and password with security questions. The mobile app requires a current Lorex account. It hurts, but I think it makes sense. How would all those separate installs know what the username and password are on other computers without super duper hacking access to your network and to your other computers! - Opening the microSD slot was incredibly difficult for us (to make sure a microSD card was installed). The weatherproof cover pressed on firmly and made a great watertight seal, but it was difficult to remove without damaging it. All in all, the whole installation is tedious, time consuming, but rewarding when complete!

  • Weight
Cons
  • Good, but not great
