This is incredibly useful for small items that you want to have often.

UPDATE: I've been carrying this backpack on many grueling trips in Colorado for a year now. This is my hunting pack - I GO COMPLETELY off the beaten path and often work in dense brush and over and around fallen wood. This backpack is time consuming and has shown no signs of wear, stitching issues etc. I have no doubt that it will last for many seasons to come. My "day packโ€ is a bit superfluous โ€“ being so far away from cell phones, trails etc. and often traveling alone or just with my son, I carry way more water, essentials etc. with me than most people probably take with them. Day trips. Last time I weighed myself I was 40 pounds. Here's a backpack for my next trip, plus some accessories that have worked for me. This is one of the few backpacks I've been able to find that actually have Molle attachment points on the BELT which is very important to me. I have an administration bag and a storage bag for my GPS, some quick access items (some band-aids, lip balm, screwdrivers, a marker, a knife, a flashlight, etc.), a wind generator, snacks and more coming soon. The larger of the two bags is large enough for a turkey visit. So all my hot things are always at hand. Two large "saddlebags" are shown on the sides. They match my wet-weather gear (left) and my cold-weather gear (right). In Colorado, the weather can change quickly, so I don't have to rummage in my bag for a pair of gloves or a raincoat. I also have a large "cell phone holder" on a saddlebag that is big enough to hold a charger. It's just what's on the outside, saving space inside for clothes, an emergency kit, a small folding Coleman chair, and food. It's a big burden, but when you're alone. Only criticism is that the two straps started to squeak, especially when overloaded. A little lip balm helps. This package easily outperforms the competition at four times the price. Highly recommended.- I am over the moon with this package. What's not immediately apparent in the photos is a feature I really appreciate - there are front attachment points on the BELT post. This is incredibly useful for small items that you want to have on hand often but don't want to take off your backpack to get them. I've added a couple of handy pockets with Molle attachments, one on each side, and they easily hold all the small items I regularly use while hiking/hunting - turkey bell, compass, GPS, cell phone, knife, some snacks, etc. , the rest of the pack is basically a cavernous pannier and while I wish it had a different compartment layout, it works well for the stuff I carry around. I also really like the bottom loop attachment points because the loops are larger than many other backpacks. This makes it easy to tie things at the bottom of the backpack. I wouldn't use this for an Appalachia hike, but for 5-10 mile day hikes it's king and I'd happily use it for 2-3. also day trips. Basically, for those who don't need a full backpack, this is a great choice at a great price.
