Review on Dell E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with USB 3.0 for E Series Latitudes: Enhanced Connectivity and Powerful Performance with 130W AC by Brian Potter

A very disappointing product and the specifications are poorly described.

There are two models of this thing, one with a 130 watt power supply and the other with a 200 watt power supply. They are similar but the performance is very different. I bought the 130 watt version because it looked the same, had the same number of ports and even said it supported the same functionality with the only real difference being that the 200 watt unit allowed daisy chaining. multiple monitors, while the 130-watt version only supports two additional monitors. that's what i was trying to achieve. But I've found that if you plug two monitors into this thing, it doesn't have enough power to run anything else. No power for external speaker set. There is no power for an external drive connected to one of the USB ports. There's not even enough power to hook up an HP OfficeJet printer to this thing. So despite the fact that I have the same port replicator I have to connect some of my devices to the replicator and some to my laptop because it just doesn't have enough power to support all the ports and all the features in the port replicator. My advice is to just forget that there is such a thing as a 130w version of this port replicator and buy the 200w version from the start. and didn't get into the same mess I was trying to save some money.
