Review on 🌸 Herban Cowboy Blossom Phthalate-Free Deodorant: Natural Odor Protection by Crystal Cornwell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

And so my long (and expensive) search for a natural deodorant came to an end.

I love Arm & Hammer Essentials natural deodorant. I mean LOVED. It was as good as every chemical and aluminum deodorant out there and seemed perfect except for triclosan. So after a few months I reluctantly threw it away and went in search of the perfect all-natural deodorant. It took weeks and cost a lot of money. There were days when I was afraid I smelled so bad I pretended to urinate every half hour to reapply whatever deodorant I was trying on. I was about to give up when a nice lady from Whole Foods (who sells it cheaper by the way ;)) drew my attention to Herban Cowboy! During the day I fell in love and I have no regrets! For comparison, let me tell you which deodorants I've used and why I didn't really like them. Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant - Great if you can put pesticides on your armpits (you shouldn't).2. Crystal Essence mineral deodorant roll-on. It seemed to work pretty well (the lavender had a pleasant smell), but the fact that it's made from potassium alum (aka potassium aluminum sulfate) is very off-putting. Weleda Deodorant (Wild Rose) - I don't know why people like it. One, SMELL. Oh my gosh. If you like smelling like DEET/Citronella candles, great! But I could hardly breathe the air around me, and my boyfriend refused to come near me every time I reapplied, which happened often. Which brings me to number two, duration. It didn't last as long for me (3-4 hours) but certainly longer than Tom's (see #4), and repeated applications meant a risk of headaches due to the smell. Not to mention that this stuff is alcohol based. So if you've shaved/waxed etc lately, brace yourself. And third, the price. For the amount you get and the number of times I've had to reapply, it's not worth it.4. Tom's of Maine Natural Long Lasting Deodorant Stick (Apricot) - Lasting, my ass. 45 minutes in the car and the clothes are washed. I reapplied, hiked 6 miles and returned to heaven fragrant. It had a pleasant smell, of course, but this material is definitely not for me.5. Herban Cowboy (Men and Women) - I started with men because after the fiasco with Tom and Weleda I decided I should sweat more than the average woman. It worked very well but the scent was too masculine so I switched to Blossom. It's light and fresh and won't interfere with any perfumes you may be using. I might have to reapply once a day (if I remember correctly) but I'm no longer paranoid and everyone smells me! The thing really works! Now the scent tends to fade and often there is no scent left (which can be intimidating) but no BO either! There have been a few days in Boston this summer with temperatures exceeding 90 degrees and the fact that I was able to get through them without smell makes me very happy with this product!
