Washing Machine FloodStop Valve System Works

I learned from PBS's Ask This Old House that broken washing machine hoses are a leading cause of water damage to homes. They recommended installing one of the systems they were demonstrating to manage the risk. They also recommended changing hoses regularly. I purchased an Onsite Pro FS3/4H Direct Valve Washer Flood Protection System for my washing machine. I have postponed the installation until I have completed other projects. I recently took a washing machine repair as an opportunity to install a FloodStop system. After installing the system, installing new hoses and checking the hose connections, I discovered a large leak at the washing machine connector. The leak sensor has detected a water leak and activated the system. The only installation problem I had was trying to figure out how to open the electronic valves once the system is powered up. I realized that I have to manually (push a button) close the valves and then manually (push a button) open the valves. Also, the only way I've found to remove the leak warning is to turn off the controller, remove the battery, and reseat the battery. If there is a reset function, I haven't found it.

Pros
  • Installs in Minutes - No Professional Plumber Required
Cons
  • Quality
