Review on GSP NCV72990 Axle Shaft Assembly by John Swain

Revainrating 2 out of 5

You get what you pay for

I fitted them to my 1987 Westy, July 2019. It had a regular lift at the time. . I bumped it up to 1-1/2" with a Go-Westy kit about 8 months ago. No problems until yesterday the axle broke, I was cruising uphill on a compacted road, about 20 mph, he went without warning. So about 15 months. I used them because they were the fastest on the market at the time, I was in a hurry to go on a trip. I knew it was going to be a crappy spin. Raising the suspension helped they don't. I will be replacing them with Porshe 944 GKN/Lobro on their original axles. Samba has extensive forum threads on them. The CV joint just fell apart. Not broken, just the bearings came out. Weird. The dust boots already looked worn, not cracked , but not too far Approximately 15,000 miles, mostly on dirt roads.

Pros
  • For some 1986-91 Volkswagen Vanagons (see fitment details above)
Cons
  • I won't tell
