The maximum length of USB3 is said to be 3m. This is why active cables have built-in repeaters. This cable is 15m long, so it has a repeater on one end and there must be 4 more every 3m. But it only has 1 repeater in the middle, that's 7.5m per repeater. The description says there are 2, which I think is technically correct, but I'm not sure how reliable that would be. I haven't had any problems so far and the cable is very heavy so maybe it depends on a really good shield. Also, I use it without a power supply. It's bus powered and I've connected it to self-powered hubs on both ends so none of my connected devices get power from that cable anyway and that's how it seems to work. If it's reliable with just two repeaters that's actually good, fewer stages are better for speed.
