Description of πŸ”Œ MutecPower 50ft Active USB Extension Cable 3.0 Male to Female with Dual Extension Chipsets and Signal Booster - Active Repeater Cord 15m / 50ft (Includes AC Power Supply)

High performance active USB 3.0 extension cable extends the connection between a computer or Windows tablet and USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 peripherals including hard drives, USB hubs, mice, keyboards, flash drives, printers, and more. Enjoy USB 3.0 data - transmission speeds of up to 5 Gbit/s, which is about ten times faster than USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/s). USB 3.0, dual-bus architecture is used to allow both USB 2.0 (Full Speed, Low Speed, or High Speed) and USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed) operations to take place simultaneously, thus providing backward compatibility. Premium USB 3.0 repeater cable engineered with molded strain relief connectors for durability and grip treads for easy plugging and unplugging. The combination of gold-plated connectors, bare copper conductors, and foil & braid shielding provides superior cable performance and error-free data transmission. ROHS Approved, meets all regulations!

The maximum length of USB3 is said to be 3m. This is why active cables have built-in repeaters. This cable is 15m long, so it has a repeater on one end and there must be 4 more every 3m. But it only has 1 repeater in the middle, that's 7.5m per repeater. The description says there are 2, which I think is technically correct, but I'm not sure how reliable that would be. I haven't had any problems so far and the cable is very heavy so maybe it depends on a really good shield. Also, I use it…

A bit fragile and won't work with Logitech StreamCam

The first one I bought fell apart when unwrapping the cable. The strain reliefs are designed so that applying any torque to the cable can open the built in amplifier module in the middle of the cable. I sent it back and got another one which didn't fall apart this time. The cable is ideal for USB 2.0 devices such as keyboards, mice and headphone amps. However, when I plug the Logitech StreamCam directly into the cable (using only the USB-CA adapter), it is recognized as a 5000Mbps (SuperSpeed)…

Pros
  • USB cable

  • No instructions

It only works when you need it

I needed to move my tower from behind my desk to a server rack in a closet. Why are computers scattered everywhere when they can be collected? I was distracted. To do this, I needed a USB hub on my desktop for my keyboard, mouse, microphone, Focusrite USB audio interface, and other things. This was required to connect to my rack computer, which involved climbing the wall, walking the ceiling, and returning to the server closet, which required at least 29 feet with no sag. The 35ft was perfect…
