Review on Vacmaster Gallon 2 Stage Industrial VF408 by Jerry Mangum

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Rated current is actually 7 amps not the advertised 8 amps - 120w loss

The Vacmaster and Revain website states that this vacuum draws 8A (power 960w). The vacuum cleaner's label says 7A (power 840W) and my ammeter reads exactly that - 7A. So it draws less power at 120W, which also means you get less airflow performance. Their website even states that they update their documentation and that in case of conflicts the documentation of the website showing 8A should be used. I think they missed it. I used amperage as a factor in my purchase decision. This 8A rating was better than others and can indicate better performance. You can't use a PHP engine rating of 5 because that's a useless number unless you know all the factors from which it was derived. Has the motor been tested in a lab at room temperature or -20C to reduce motor resistance and give a false power reading within a few milliseconds. The efficiency of the motor is probably on the order of 30%, making it (downhill on a windy day) a 1-1/2 hp motor. - if it's true. The only parameter they list is the water rise at their location for this model. However, this is only half of the information needed to evaluate performance. Where is the Airflow Rating (CFM)? You might have a lot of suction, but without good airflow, nothing will pick up. It's good enough for my use, but I'm definitely let down by their promotional and sales tactics and abuse of performance metrics. Other manufacturers do this too, but that doesn't do it right. Maybe calling them will help to make a difference, but I doubt it. The unit has several other features that made me choose this 4 gallon 5 PHP vacuum, thinking it was an 8A unit. Retractable 18ft power cord, two 7ft (1.25" diameter) hose storage brackets, accessory storage basket and 4 wheels for rolling and easy tilting. You can find replacement filter cartridges at your local store (I don't have) and so far the only ones I've found are those advertised by online sellers. a standard size shop vacuum with a washable filter So I got less than I expected and advertised Vacmaster - what are you going to do with it?
