One star reviews are fun!

First of all folks if you want your dog to respond to whistles you need to TRAIN them to respond to whistles! Dogs do not automatically know what the whistle is supposed to mean. Wow! Some people! Anyway, I use two whistles for my dogs, which I wear on a string around my neck. I use a small metal "silent" whistle that has been around for decades to get their attention (1 tone) or call them to me (2 tones) when they're close enough to me, say 50 Meter. I then use a "police" whistle like the Acme Thunderer or Fox 40 when they're gone. But my police whistles are so damn loud I don't want to use them when people are around. Listen to Acme Sonec. Really light, easy to play, both soft and loud notes, and when I blow hard I don't feel like I'm going to wake up the whole area. I find it effective up to 150 meters. Next I need to use the police whistle. One caveat - to use this whistle (or ANY other whistle) effectively, you must know how to blow the whistle. Laugh if you want, but there's a technique at play here. As a retired soccer referee I have probably 15 different types of whistle and I know how to blow each one differently to get different results. I suggest that beginner whistleblowers first search the internet for "how to blow a whistle", watch a few videos, and then go somewhere that you won't bother other people and practice. It's not hard to learn, but I see people at the dog park getting it wrong all the time.
