I don't think the lids should be tight because then you can't just remove the lid with one hand. The slightly loose lid makes them easy to use! And although they are lost, they prevent the liquid from evaporating quickly. I will tell you in 24 hours how much liquid is left in the jar after vaporizing, it may not vaporize at all. Honestly, how big do they have to be for a finger manicure? I guess if you want something more don't buy them but I like them. EDIT!: The nail polish remover evaporated a bit in 24 hours. I filled the jar less than halfway and there was still some liquid left at the bottom.
