This product should replace Bd/DVD drive for iMac A1312. Unfortunately, the production of these slot-loading drives is slowing down, there aren't that many of them anymore. Hence the purchase of a refurbished product. This disc was manufactured in 2013 and although the electronics are fine and recognized by the operating system, it will not load or spin the discs.
