Do you know your child - be it Thor or Odin?

I am torn when I look at this toy. And here's why: The toy is definitely of high quality, it won't fall apart, it won't break unless subjected to massive violence. It definitely develops motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and even thinking skills, as deciding which colors should be up, down, or on the same level requires complex decisions and physical application. So, the toy is a great toy! But . . Basically you give the kid a miniature of Thor's hammer. Not a hollow plastic hammer, mind you. No no. This childish weapon would have been approved by the great thunder god. The two pieces of solid wood held together very well. The tip of the hammer is shaped to attack from many interesting angles. Great for toys. It's not great if your child decides to become a "Viking" during a playgroup, family reunion, or school event. Like the mighty Mjolner, this hammer throws well, flies fast and far, and can kill the troll itself. Or TV. Or PC. Or grandma. . . The only reason I'm deducting a star is for the deadly weapons that come with this awesome toy. Maybe he should have been tied to Melissa and Doug's toys? It's not cool that your parents have to think about it for you. But we love grandma. Our little girl turning into Thor and sending her to the hospital isn't our idea of fun. If your child is gentle, kind, and reliably non-violent, then go for it. GREAT TOY! If maybe your kid is just a land conqueror reincarnated in this tiny body, please beware the hammer!
