save your money in TV & Video

On paper, this is exactly what I was looking for. It has one thing the Fire TV Recast doesn't have: a QAM tuner (although my first test was with a standard ATSC antenna). In practice, however, this device disappointed. The initial setup didn't work on any of my 3 Android devices (1 phone, 2 tablets, all with different Android versions). Good thing I have an iPhone to work with. Scanning channels is pretty fast, but contrary to all logic, channels are not saved on Cordcutter TV. You need to scan every phone, tablet and streaming device you want to use with Cordcutter TV. Live TV works well enough, but the picture quality is not comparable to a direct antenna connection to the TV. Sometimes there are jerks, but it's not scary. The application is poorly designed. It's not convenient and the UI looks old. The messages are written in bad English. The firmware update screen says "Cordcutter TV is working properly, you can check your device version". Quality control doesn't seem to be a priority for the Hauppauge. The functionality of the DVR is just terrible. The "guide" they provide is a joke. It's only a few hours in advance and you can't use it to schedule a recording. Recordings must be scheduled manually by selecting channel, date, start time, duration and video quality. The recordings are of extremely poor quality, if played at all. And I can't find any other way to delete the entry other than taking out the flash drive and plugging it into my laptop. Don't waste money.
