This is an excellent cake stand. It is very durable and the locking system is simple and secure. I've already moved two cakes with him. The first cake used a support base as the plate and the cake slid when I applied the brakes, but the cake stayed intact and returned to center easily. The cake did have photoshoots, however, and I wasn't blown away by the "this and the cake topper" aesthetic. The second time I put the cake on a nice but heavy glass plate. I was advised to use waffle wrap for the shelf between the plaza and the support base, but couldn't find any, so I crumpled up the plastic wrap to put it between the plate and the support base, and then used tape to secure it three digits. . Nicely transported! Don't move your hair! Haven't tried transporting the 4 layer yet but I'm sure it's high enough to clear the top. I will also say that no matter how strong the clips are, I would never rely on clips to hold things together. I always put my carrier in a large canvas bag (I use a polka dot Pampered Chef bag, but any large bag will do).
