Review on Mirkit FTDI USB Baofeng Programming Cable Model 5: The Ultimate Multi-Device Flashing Solution for Baofeng, Wouxun, Kenwood, Mirkit, Motorola, and Yaesu Radios by James Nedumaran

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good cable but not easy plug and play.

FTDI driver installed but it took several Windows 10 driver updates before Windows provided it with a communication port. The only radio I have that requires this cable is the Kenwood TH-F6. I have a Baeofang RD-5R and an Anytone 868UV - both radios have built in chips so they won't work with this cable. I also have an Icom 5100 which requires an external COM port but I have not tried this cable with it. The TH-F6 requires a communications port outside of the radio, so it works great. The cable and system appear to be well put together, but be sure to check compatibility before purchasing. I'll keep this in my go bag. I gave this a 4 because the site says it's plug and play and while that may be true it's not immediately obvious and I suspect some people have said they don't get it working can bring.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Poor performance
