Review on Tecsun PL880 Portable Digital PLL Dual Conversion AM/FM, Longwave & Shortwave Radio with SSB (Single Side Band) Reception - Silver by Walter Hodzic

First the background story: I've been using shortwave receivers for over 50 years, starting with tube receivers, then a range of small portables - Sony, Sangean etc. I expected Tecsun to be a step above the last. What I found: Although the sound quality is excellent and FM reception is above average, the PL880 picks up almost nothing on HF. Almost nothing on the amateur radio bands, international broadcast bands day and night. By comparison, my old, very small, Sony ICF of a different breed attracted a pretty good array of transmitters that were in the same spot in my house, with the same built-in whip antenna.
