Review on Enhanced Viewing Experience: HP W2207 22 Inch Widescreen Monitor with Height Adjustment & Wide Screen Display by Donald Ware

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A bit picky about clean energy

I bought it as a desktop add-on for an HP zd8000 laptop. On the plus side, this monitor is nice and bright and attractive, and the colors are pretty good overall. In addition, it blends aesthetically with other HP devices. The mechanical design of the stand and swivel monitor is simple, functional and excellent. The electronic menu and monitor controls are acceptable but don't offer a wide range of settings and this isn't the highest resolution available. Here, too, the resolution is sufficient for my work for comfortable reading without glasses, but portrait and landscape format help terribly. an outlet is plugged in, causing the horizontal lines to flicker. I thought the problem looked like "noise" in the air conditioning line, but I called HP Technical Support anyway. We "fiddled" with the software settings for two hours and changed the drivers on the computer several times, but without success. The problem was minimized by swapping the daisy chain of plugs and cords from the outlet to the computer's power supply, which HP didn't find, but I did. If you unplug your computer, the problem will go away completely. I like the design and the swivel options of my monitor for my work writing and proofreading complex legal documents. Susceptibility to flicker due to power supply noise makes the situation worse, but it can be mitigated. 5 stars for design, including the USB ports on the monitor frame, and 3 stars for performance, averaging 4 stars. ADDITIVE. I fixed the flicker issue by plugging the monitor and laptop dock into different power sources.
