Review on πŸš” HELIKON TEX Patrol Tactical D Ring Length: Ultimate Gear for Law Enforcement & Outdoor Pursuits by Billy Branch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fit and finish seems great, didn't meet my needs

I really want to wear this belt, it seems very solid, in fact it probably deserves 5 stars. At the same time, I don't have a single pair of pants with belt loops through which this buckle could be threaded. You can get it working by unwrapping the strap from one side of the strap knot, but that makes it pointless to quickly undo the buckle. The buckle had over an inch of stitching in the area that held it together. Again, more would probably be overkill, but I'd prefer overkill. This harness is also clearly marked on the label "do not use for climbing or as an LSE", I suspect it will be fine in a pinch, but I don't. I don't jump out of planes anymore and I've never been crazy enough to climb, so I'm guessing the belt will never be tested that way. If you just want a military style belt and don't mind the inconvenience of swapping it out for a different pair of pants, then that's fine. But it's not perfect. Edit: After a day of denigrating it, I found something, the quick release on it is actually helpful when you need to go to the bathroom, my fault for being an idiot. That said, putting it through the belt loops and taking it off in the morning is the only time I have to fiddle with it. It wasn't obvious at first, which made it a huge step up from my usual base 5.11 belt. I upgraded to 5 stars, the only negative in my original review was due to operator error. Good belt. Sit. Remain.

Pros
  • Very durable belt matches combat belts for maximum comfort.
Cons
  • Limited range of sizing options, except for those with waists larger than 44 inches or belts shorter than 55 inches.
