My son is seven years old but very tall for his age (closer to the average age of nine). He is also very slim. Based on another review saying they are a bit small I ordered 10. They fit him perfectly. The waist is not tight but loose. The legs are perfectly straight. For reference, I bought my son a pair of Levi's skinny jeans (dark color knit jeans) size 10 and the length was perfect, but the waist was really big. I bought them for a beach wedding. and they will be perfect. I'm so glad I took a chance with the size and ordered it! Highly recommended if your son or daughter has a slim figure.
