Review on πŸ‡ Bronze Fruit Basket Bowl with Banana Tree Hanger by SimpleHouseware by Kenny Hrdlicka

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Functional Art (Great way to arrange fruit and create a still life for the kitchen)

I've just moved and am on the Looking for products to organize the kitchen I have seen this product for many years (in catalogs and on TV) and I loved the look when I saw that this offer was offered I decided to give it my "colours" " to look at, but since I'm going to be giving my new kitchen a rustic look (and since the previous owner chose antique bronze hardware, which I like for that look), I decided to order it with a bronze finish. Reading the reviews I noticed that some mentioned that this was due to missing or uneven legs which was causing them the baskets to be wobbly. Luckily I didn't have this problem. The legs (little circles welded to the base are) were good fastened and evenly spaced so they didn't wobble. Wiggle! The first photo I took is the instruction page and. Only one page. You only need to collect one, and it would probably be easy for most. But for me it was an ordeal (thanks to almost microscopic screws)! All you have to do is take a piece of the hanging banana and slip it into the provided brackets at the back, then retighten the screws to attach the hanging bar. What could be easier, right? Not correct! After I trimmed my nails straight, they weren't as long as usual, but even with the shorter nails, it took EVERYTHING (read: minutes) to get the damn screws in the tiny holes! Oh my goodness! You need three hands and no nails! One hand to hold the basket, another to fiddle with the screws, and a third to wipe your brow while you perform the tricky operation! Serious. There are only two screws, but damn it looks like there are more. My nails made it almost impossible to get hold of the screws and then prevented me from getting too close to the screw basket. I kept losing my grip on the screws and dropping them on the counter or floor. It was an interesting venture. (And yes I know it comes with an Allen key but first of all I hate those damn things because they NEVER work easily for me (although I tried them anyway) and in this case don't even mount the screws first! So the Allen key was the wrong one for me.) But the prize goes to the winner - in this case, the winner with her first working fruit basket! You don't normally leave melon on the counter, but I wanted to show the spaciousness of the interior. Big oranges and cantaloupes, and inside there's room for, say, apples, lemons or limes. And to hang bananas, simply insert the handle at the end of the hanging bracket into the top of the bunch of bananas. There is nothing easier. So, apart from a slight problem with nails and screws (which wasn't enough to detract from a five star rating), there were no issues with packaging, assembly or presentation. I can recommend this product but with only one caveat: if you are a girl with any number of fingernails that extend past your fingertips, find a girl who will bite them, or give your man my hero's thrill by They ask him to rescue a long nailed girl in dire straits while handling dwarf screws. You'll make it one day and save yourself a headache. (As for the photos: The first is the infamous instruction page. The second is a shot from the front of the basket. The third is from the side. The fourth is from the back. The fifth is a close-up (and a little blurry) of the area of the bracket and the arm screw.)
