I bought a Samsung 950-EVO-500GB NVMe to install my new Leneovo Flex 5 which comes with 250GB NVMe was delivered. I installed Linux Mint 20 dual boot for about two weeks and waited for this useless thing to show up. I didn't even bother to activate win10 since I've been using Linux for years. When this Startech came along, I installed a Samsung EVO in a Flex 5 running Mint 20.0 on a fresh 500GB NVMe. I then installed a 256GB NVMe into this external drive enclosure. I plugged it into the USB 3 port and the light came on and flickered for a few seconds. I then booted into a new 500GB Mint and tried to find my Linux installation on that external enclosure to copy the folders and files over to my new Mint installation. But the new Mint could not see any files. He discovered it as a device, but nothing else. I pulled the NVMe out of that external thing and reinstalled the 256GB NVMe in the Flex 5 to see what was going on. Imagine my surprise when it booted straight to Win10, bypassing the Mint installation that was there a few minutes earlier. Win10 could see it as a device but not folders or files. This crazy piece of hardware messed up the GRUB boot system for my Linux install and made it ONLY boot on Windows! Now I put the 500 GB NVMe back in and created my files. with a dozen backup DVDs. What a waste of my time. The REALLY annoying thing is that I bought this StarTech for almost double the price of another brand just based on the brand name. Never again will Startech bring anything to our doorstep. I lost almost 2 days of my time from start to finish due to a poorly made case. It goes to the recycle bin so it can NEVER corrupt data again. VERY disappointed in Startech.
