don't open it Don't press too hard. Run it through the dishwasher after use.

It doesn't have to be more. If you don't have insanely large pots and/or hands, this is the perfect size. Don't roll it into a ball to use - this will reduce your cleaning area to about a quarter the size and this will cause some links to protrude unevenly from the cotton ball. This will surely scratch the pan or scrape off the spices. Instead, do the following: 1. First, use a spatula to scrape the largest chunks out of the pan, as if you were using salt and paper towels, nylon washcloths, or whatever. Then put the pan in the sink and pour some warm water into it.2. Spread Ringer TIGHT on bottom of pan. Put your hand on it. Wave it gently. Swing it up and to the sides. No need to press it hard, just gently press and move it back and forth and from all sides.3. You can feel some crunchy bits, so just shake it with your palm or fingers until you can't feel any lumps. Drain the water and replace it once or twice if necessary.4. Then pull out the bell and feel the pot with your fingertips. If everything appears smooth, you're done. If not, reinsert the ringer and rotate it a little more.5. When the pan feels smooth, drain, rinse and inspect. There may still be something you missed when feeling with your fingertips. In this case, repeat steps 2-5. Then: Turn the pot over so it's upside down in the sink. Put a drop of dish soap on the bottom of the pot. Wash the handle, base and sides of the OUTSIDE of the pan. Rinse and dry everything. I use a paper towel to dry it off because if you've done it right, no food should be sticking to the inside of the pan, but it will still be slightly oily. Place the pan on the stove. Heat for a minute to make sure it's completely dry, then using another paper towel, rub a dab of lard or coconut oil or shortening all over the INSIDE of the pan to form a really thin layer. : Throw the bell in one of the cutlery compartments in the dishwasher. It comes out clean and ready for the next use. Voila. Your pan will be clean, not burnt on and not greasy on the outside. (Before the next use of the pan, simply wipe off the protective layer of grease or grease from the inside. No washing required, just wipe with a paper towel).
