At first I was very disappointed with this item. I spent a full 30-45 minutes trying desperately to put it together before finally calling my husband to make sure I wasn't crazy. What other reviewers have mentioned is true: the exposed screw intended to screw into the base wasn't long enough to actually reach the threads on the bottom. My husband took a pair of pliers and removed the screw from the shaft to expose most of it and make it long enough to reach the threads. After this modification, we were able to assemble it without any problems. I'm taking off one star for the assembly tasks, but now that we've got it all put together I'm very happy with it!
