Review on Omaiga Indoor Grill & Panini Press with Temperature Control - Electric 6-Serving Stainless Steel Sandwich Maker | Detachable Non-Stick Coated Plates by Caleb Olsen

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not very impressed. Works for cooking but not everything advertised. Cheap construction.

I am a professional home and private chef and I also teach cooking and knife techniques. I take all my kitchen items, tools, utensils, knives, serving items, other accessories and groceries very seriously. When I test and review culinary items, I am very critical and meticulous about rating and rating. My reviews are honest and unbiased. Good is good... bad is bad! I'll start by saying that this is a relatively good grill/panini press that works well for "some" medium temperature dishes, either open or with various press settings. Although the product page says 'stainless steel', this item actually contains very LITTLE stainless steel. There's a lot of aluminum (including griddles) and plastic. I find it quite cheap and controlling the various functions is not intuitive. Pros: * This grill is great for pressed sandwiches like grilled cheese, panini and the like * When open, it's great for grilling vegetables and thin meats * Removable plates are non-stick and easy to remove and clean. It is important to use non-metal cooking tools to avoid scratching the surface of these detachable griddles. or storage. Less than optimal or just plain bad. *After repeated testing and heating for extended periods of time in excess of 30 minutes, the grill has not exceeded 400℉ on any plate. The average temperature at the MAX setting was 387℉. You will NOT be able to brown this grill quickly.* Although billed as an "indoor grill," it does not have a fan or blower and when using a variety of foods, especially when using low smoke point oils such as olive oil. , or flaxseed oil, the grill smokes without trapping or dispersing. This can result in smoke alarms going off if you don't have an air vent directly above the grill!* The power cord is very short, forcing you to use it in locations that may not be suitable for setting up a hot grill. With the advertised maximum rating of 2000 watts, it would be impractical to use an extension cord smaller than 14 AWG, and even if it did reach 2000 watts you would likely trip a standard 15A circuit breaker, which is rated to handle more than 1875 watts. Watt. This is especially important when other elements are running on the same circuit at the same time. * There are a lot of plastic and cheaper materials in the grill body. I didn't expect this grill to be a mainstay in the kitchen for so many years. That's all they say. everything it claims and therefore I am cautiously rating it THREE STARS and suggest looking at other similar products in the same price range on Revain before settling on this one. Bon appetit.*If you found my review helpful, PLEASE let Revain know by clicking the USEFUL button below!
