Review on Philips MRV640 Magnavox DVD Recorder by Mensur Long

I have read several reviews on here AFTER my experience and 4 or 5 have told my story for me. 99 times out of 100 I've done thorough research on consumer electronics before making a purchase, and in fact it was 1 in 100 when I ended up at Best Buy with money in my pocket but no reviews on my mind. Like others who bought this recorder, I did it for the price but avoided unknown brands, thinking it was worth the reassurance of paying $40-50 more for a known brand. Well, long story short, I'm going to pick up one of these unnamed recorders after work today. At first I was impressed with the variety of inputs and features it had. The menu was complicated but I figured I could get used to it. However, after 3 weeks of minimal use, it failed to read DVD+Rs or factory discs. That was all it took to throw it back in the box. Luckily I still had a 30-day return policy and was able to get a refund with no issues. I will definitely think twice before paying for a "decent" brand car when I can get a cheap car that does the same thing and lasts at least a month. I'm glad people are talking positively about it. Recorder but I have to think they are definitely in the minority.
