I wear prong collars on all my puppies from 4 months old. We work off-leash indoors until they all get their shots, then we head outside where there are nothing but distractions. Lizards, bugs, ducks, gray herons, dogs, neighbors, homeowners, falling leaves, you know, distractions. I have been properly trained in the use of a spiked collar and do not recommend it to anyone without experience or proper training. I found a black collar. so we had to get black links. Everything has to fit. I'm a girl. Herm Springer is one of the best brands in the field of spiked collars anyway. They are durable and well made. The dog dictates how long a collar is needed, so I need something that will last. The current pup is a complete heathen so I have a feeling we will be using this collar for a while. Good purchase, good company, quality product. It costs extra money.
