Review on ๐Ÿฑ Optimized Pet Club Cat Tree by Sarah Green

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good consider buying another

we have 5 cats one of which weighs about 25 pounds. Affectionately known as Jabba the Cat. He's not a Maine Coon or anything, he's just a big-boned cat who's fat because all she does is eat and sleep. All places where it finds space on this tree will easily bear its weight. I doubt the top freestanding ranks can brag about that, but he's so fat and lazy that I've never seen him make 3rd ranks, let alone the top ones. 3 of our 4 medium sized cats (all 7 to 15lbs) were in it all up and down and sideways and they wrestled and fought and fell and he handled their bullying well. So far the only signs of it being used (after about 4 weeks of noisy cat play) is that both fluffy mice are tailless but still tied to rubber bands and the rumba has torn a bit of fabric at floor level. Well, despite frequent vacuuming, this one is usually covered in plenty 3 different hair colors, all of which contrast nicely with the color of the material. The one we don't shed is almost the same color as the fabric the tree is made of. Cruel irony, right? awesome This is NOT a heavy duty material, the cardboard tubes that the ropes are wrapped around to make the scratching posts are probably stronger than any real wood you can find inside (it's all chipboard and cardboard) but once everything is assembled , The first stage actually held my (VERY CAREFULLY USED) 230 pounds. Basically, it's designed to support and amplify itself and has performed surprisingly well, at least in the short term. It can be very tall, but it's also broad-based and hasn't toppled over despite some pretty serious fights over who gets the top corner. and didn't have to travel 40 miles to get it. Half price, no gas, and the FedEX guy even brought it to my living room. Highly recommend 3-29-13 edit. He's still strong. Our two largest are now over 20 pounds (one of them is over 25). The brawl around the closet spilled over to the top perch. So far nothing has come loose and broken (well, except artificial mice with rubber bands, they've long since ripped off and been lost, but that's to be expected). Nothing has needed tightening and YET hasn't fallen. I don't trust this device anymore. This is the highest walkable area in the house when it comes to cats, and even the highest perch supports a cat so big (yes, Jabba the cat found the top perches) that its extra skin covers the edges all the way around. 28-2015 Edit . Almost three years later. The scratching post is still there. Small holes are still hotly debated terrain. Jabba the Cat is now pushing 30 pounds. We tried to put food on the 3rd floor to help him lose weight but he either sleeps there or has a neighbor's circus tent. The rope wraps look worn from use but are still firmly attached. Both ramps are intact. All platforms are intact. In fact, this scratching post outlived a significantly more expensive office chair bought around the same time. Another year down. Still going strong. The attrition didn't go much further, though we lost the cat Jabba and his blond brother; one for age and one for the negative side effects of obesity in cats. A few more homeless people have moved in with us (although their combined weight is still slightly less than Jabba's) so we now have 4 house cats. Our "newbies" are very young and noisy, despite their (for cat furniture) advanced age; the tree is STILL holding on. Since it's now common for me to buy catnip stuffed fluffy mice and hang them up again, I drilled holes in their attachment points to make buying new elastics and hanging them up easier. One of the "rookies" somehow managed to knock the bottom ramp off, but I fixed it with a drill and a small carriage bolt. (Yet) The most amazing purchase I've made from Revain.
