I live in New York. Deposits and rust in the water are noticeably high if you know what to look out for, which is mostly the case on the hot water side. In my photo from left to right: a new, unused mud pad (left). on the inlet side of the filter cartridge after 1 month of use (middle). Sump on the outlet side of the filter cartridge after 1 month of use (right). Now this filter has removed all the dirt and rust from the water which in turn hasn't turned brown and dirty looking in a few days. It also stopped dry, flaky skin and made shampoo lather much easier. I used to have to clean the tub every week because of the dirty look, but now I just spray some Tilex after this filter and rinse it out for a few minutes every 2 weeks. When clogged, the water pressure drops by half after 2 weeks, and sharply after a month. Therefore, the septic tanks must be washed every 2 weeks. After 2 months the filter cartridge started to fall apart, the wire mesh came loose and the filter material started falling out of the cartridge. Edit: 3/2021 Changed from 3 stars to 4 stars I contacted the company and provided proof of purchase for 2 carts and they sent out 30 replacement tubs. A complete game changer! Every 2 weeks I change the sump, and after 6 months I change the filter. This shower filter is worth it!
