4k60 runs on USB 3.0 ports! Saved me from buying a new laptop!

My laptop didn't have a displayport that could send 4k60 to my monitor and I had to settle for an HDMI port that did 4k30, resulting in poor interaction with my new 4K monitor. Stumbled across this cable and ordered it with some hesitation as it was quite expensive. Luckily this little thing works like a charm and drives 4k60 on my monitor via the USB port on my laptop. It should be noted that the experience is different when I plug the device into a regular USB port versus a port labeled USB SS (SuperSpeed). The USB SS connector offers the best experience with virtually no lag or stuttering, while the unlabeled USB connector has a slight lag when displaying UI animations and during video playback. This is to be expected given the USB-SS bandwidth allows these pixels to be pushed out. Although my laptop doesn't have USB 3.1, the adapted one works fine with USB 3.0 ports. This literally saved me from buying a new laptop - when that didn't work I decided to trade my laptop in for one with a DisplayPort 1.2 connector that could drive 4k60. I have a Lenovo Ideapad 700 by the way. The only downside I can think of is that the part where we connect the DisplayPort cable feels a bit warm. I hope this doesn't affect functionality in the long run! Note that this thing works great for things that don't require an immediate response. Things like words, web surfing, photo editing, etc. are fine. Games might not work very well, but I still don't think it's wise to play 4k60 ;-)
