I ordered this shell stencil to make a set of coasters and tablecloths. When I pulled out the stencil, it was thinner than I expected. When erasing the paint, I had to be careful not to bend the protruding little pieces. The first time I used a stencil I used a brush and strokes and when I pulled the stencil out the paint came under the stencil. Then I decided it would be better if I smeared with a brush rather than strokes. When I removed the stencil it worked like a charm! You can also apply the paint with a sponge. I really like this template and have already come up with another project using the anchor and rope template. Another tip: if you use acrylic paint, let it dry on the stencil and wipe it off gently if you don't want to wash off the wet paint immediately after use.
