First of all I would like to clarify that this review is about a CandleLite Sparkling Night Light with a bronze back. (Looks like reviews of the various night lights that GE sells are grouped here, which can be misleading.) So before I order this, I kind of read that this light doesn't cover the entire socket, although it really does, no matter how you connect it. Looking at the product description now, I see that it actually says it "provides a cover for unsightly outlets", so I must have corrected my misunderstanding from reviews or other descriptions of the night light. My fault and it's not the manufacturer's fault but I wanted to share this with others who may be considering this light. The light itself is a cool concept, but I find it quite orange-yellow and bright compared to some of my others. Candle-like lights that are softer and have a color that's not as intensely amber. And I found the shimmer to be too hectic and "busy" to be used in the bedroom, which is what I originally bought it for. My other "candles" light up with a much more subtle and gentle flicker. (My teenage son remarked that it looked like a haunted house!) I'd say it's much better suited to a kitchen or hallway or even outdoors. It's not bright enough to really illuminate a room, but it's definitely bright enough to see something. So I would say buy for a cool effect outside or for some light in the hallway/hallway/bathroom. Not very good as a slim night light in the bedroom! Updated to add: I've tried it on a few spots around the house and can't figure out how similar it is to Halloween/Haunted House Lights! My husband thinks it's too crazy. Not reassuring at all. Maybe I just have a very bright and active one? I can try to find a place to use it outside as it can help diffuse the light better. Otherwise it is simply abandoned. Spring. Not worth sending back.
