Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Connecticut RC3850 Replacement Manufactured UBIZ0250 by Michael Miner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Saved from My Zinsco Panel

Totally satisfied with this product - the quality is equal/better than the original and it fits perfectly. TWO important tips: 1) PLEASE - turn off power to the panel if possible. When you have to work on a panel "HOT" (under power), you better know what you're doing or be comfortable before DEATH. 2) Old genuine Zinsco circuit breakers fail because the terminals holding them to the module rails lose voltage over time causing sparks at the terminals causing more flexing etc etc. If you remove the old switch check Visually check the power rails the switch clips are attached - if it caused a spark then there will be dents on the tires at that spot and if you install a new switch in the same spot it's only a matter of time before the problem returns occurs. If you have free space on the panel, install a new switch in one of the free spots. Also, the panel rails are aluminum, as are the switch terminals, and oxidation is a natural problem with aluminum. I put a dab of electrical antioxidant grease on my new switch clips before installing mine. Again, know what you're doing and be careful - I've been an industrial electrician for almost 50 years and watched a young electrician die because his attention was distracted for a second or so and he'd forgotten which wires were broken and which ones those were "HOT". THINK SAFETY!
