Not the easiest camera to use but pretty good value for money

I have a 2017 Brinno time lapse camera and use it a lot. It works and for a while it was the only thing that could be used for long term video. I have several Panasonic Lumix cameras that make great time-lapses, but they're perfect for shooting for hours, not days or weeks. Then I heard about this ATLI EON camera and decided to buy it. First things first: ATLI EON does slow motion videos better than my Brinno, and the ATLI camera is easier to set up with the app. (Which the downside is – you *have* to use a phone app to control the ATLI camera, and I don't like loading my phone with apps. But that's the only way to use this camera.) At first I found it difficult to connect the ATLI EON to my phone via WiFi. I went to where the ATLI camera was filming the video and opened the app on my phone. I tapped and tapped and tapped things and eventually it connected normally. Then I learned the trick: first go to your phone's settings and tell it to connect to the ATLI camera's WiFi. Once I did that, it was MUCH faster to get the app to respond. Once connected, it's easy to set the time interval, time period, and even play back what has been filmed so far. When setting up for recording, the focus is easy to see on the mobile phone screen. When it comes to focus, the ATLI EON does not convince with image sharpness. That's not bad, but no one will confuse the image quality with what I get from my much more expensive Panasonic cameras. It's clear I think, but a little more clarity would be nice. It would be nice to have more controls on the camera itself. but that increases the price. There is a photo of the setup in my review where I made a time-lapse video of three iris flowers. I had a large soft box for lighting and filmed video for over 11 days. A time-lapse video of the flower was also posted with this review. It's not bad, but it's not like the videos I get from my best cameras. However, ATLI is better than the Brinno I have. So if you want to shoot extended time-lapse videos and don't want to spend a lot of money, ATLI EON is a good choice. It's definitely better than the cheap Brinno camera (although the Brinno has great body protection that the ATLI EON doesn't have). I will continue to use the ATLI EON for long shots.
