Review on πŸ” SuperHandy Chicken Plucker: Efficient Electric Poultry De-Feather Remover - Heavy Duty Stainless Steel, 1HP, 92 Soft Fingers, 20" Drum Diameter by Jennifer Johnson

Don't pluck turkeys! to the small.

I have been raising meat chickens and turkeys for about 12 years and processing my own. I was cleaning over 2000 birds on a homemade wizbang plucking machine that would make chickens and turkeys until a tree fell on my barn and this took off. I wanted to buy a commercial one that could be found on a poultry site but didn't want to spend money on it. I figured the homemade one worked pretty well, so this one should be as good or better and about the same price as repairing my old one. I wanted to clean a few birds and see how well it would work before doing this review with about 150 cleaned birds. So here are my pros and cons of the device, as well as some mods I'll be making next year. Pros - The wheels are a pleasure to move around - The underside feels very strong and durable - Easy to clean - Easy to assemble.- Works well for 5# chicks. I only do one bird at a time. Cohn doesn't peel turkeys! Might make a 13# bird by removing legs, wings, tail feather and neck, but not very well. - Short power cord. - The GFCI connector is often disconnected when using an extension cord and needs to be reset. The switch is located on the bottom of the device. "We need more plucking fingers. Changes for next year - Add more plucking fingers. - Move the on/off switch to the top of the device. - Addition of water spray lines. - Replace the power cord. longer and without GFCI. Hope that helps!
