Excellent materials and assembly, but computer slows down - UPDATED!

[Updated 11/15/20] After the company published my review, they left a comment advising me to contact them about a medication. They responded quickly and offered a full refund for the defective item. I've upgraded my original rating to 4 stars for the responsive and helpful customer service. [Original review] First, good. This device is thin and looks premium. The metal body and plastic ends look solid. Overall it looks and feels like a quality product. It gets hot during use, but never so hot that it's dangerous or scares me. I like the fact that there is no power indicator, although there is a fairly bright green network status indicator when the ethernet is connected. I use this primarily to connect my MacBook Air to a 1080p monitor via HDMI, to a network via Ethernet, and to an external hard drive via USB. I checked all USB ports and SD card slot and they work. I award two stars for the high processing quality and the functional connections. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. The bad news is that it cannot be used as it causes a kernel panic. When my computer is connected to this hub and stays in sleep mode for more than a few minutes, it often crashes and restarts after waking up. This happens reliably when the computer has been idle for a long time, and sometimes when it has been less time. This happens whether I wake the computer from sleep using the built-in trackpad or keyboard, or using a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse. And it doesn't happen when I use the same connections and peripherals, but a different USB-C hub. I've only had the hub for a little under 4 months. As far as I remember, this caused this behavior from the start, although it took me a while to figure it out as at first I thought something was wrong with my computer and spent a lot of time trying to fix it. I would return but it's outside the return window. And I didn't understand how to contact the supplier for support. Too bad, I really wanted to like this product.
