If you want it to be just a monitor stand and have some height adjustment then that's no problem. However, if you need this for pranks as well, consider other options. I didn't like that access to the crate was under the riser. If you have the lowest setting or limited space with the keyboard in front of the extension (even at a higher setting), you won't be able to access the drawers. everything is smooth and problems arise even if there is nothing in it that could cause it. Phone part never used. I ended up returning mine (I bought two) and just received my monitor stands.
