Review on Geniteen: Educational Children's Sailing Building Set for Skill Development by John Bailey

Better than expected!

First of all I was impressed by how closely the parts claimed matched the set itself. Most are hampered by some, and that's to be expected. There are 3000 pieces in this set. The actual instructions list 2993 in the parts list for the entire kit and 2992 in the summation of each step. It's better that the step-by-step guide is under the global list! A difference of 7 or 8 is just rounding and very acceptable. Despite this, there were over 300 additional parts (see photo). The product page features rat lines on the sides going straight up. This was my only issue with the kit as it didn't seem quite right. However, when I noticed that these rat cables were connected to the body with hinges, I realized that this is much better. One of my photos shows these rat ropes leaning against crow's nests on three poles. The third photo shows the finished ship (sitting on the instructions). Apart from the nose piece, which is always very fragile and delicate when assembled, the kit comes together very well. I leaned back in my chair and simply folded the gray and black round pieces in half. Only 4 cannons used 3 shots and all others used 2 shots and the gray ones were only used for cannons. Likewise, the black round pieces were only used in the rat lines and I just sat there and watched TV and folded them in half. I didn't bother counting them before - 284 at once is a lot! Looks good and was fun to put together. What else would you like to ask?
