The cooling pad does not need to be assembled. It comes with a USB cable and you plug it into one of the USB ports. It has 6 speeds and all speeds are silent. Even when I set it to maximum there is no noise. It's like a laptop stand can get 4-5 stars but as a laptop cooling pad only 1. I have a Helios Predator 300. It doesn't have a big heat issue but it can get a little warm when I'm playing games. I used my old nzxt cryo x60 cooling pad. Unfortunately, Aitcheson falls short in comparison. It doesn't really reduce or remove the heat from my laptop, but my laptop doesn't have any overheating issues except when I'm playing games. Also, I still have no idea why the red LEDs are lit. They are located under the stand and are not visible when you place the laptop on the stand. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this as a cooling pad. It has a cooling effect but doesn't improve the quality.
