not block sound at all

I was hoping to use this to block sound coming through a large gap under a door. Firstly, it does not block sound at all. After I tried it and it didn't work, I tried holding the draft stopper my ears, and I could still hear almost perfectly. Secondly, it is made of a springy material so it does not conform to the shape you might want. If the doorway is a little too narrow,you can't deform it to fit. It always tries to spring back to its original shape.
