They have a strong weird smell right out of the box. They are very thick, making it difficult to manipulate objects with your free hand. The thickness can be good if you are using a carbon bow or a heavy MIG but I don't like them and put them in the shed to use for grappling angry animals as kevlar is said to protect against bites.
