Review on Filtrete Standard Filtration Sediment 3US AS01 by Rey High

Update: Exactly 5 years and 1 month after installation, water spontaneously spouts from blue supply pipes. Luckily I was home to turn off the water and clean up the mess. One star deducted________________________________ It was fairly easy to install. Like some of the other reviewers, I didn't push the blue hose into the filter mount hard enough, and at first water splashed all over the place. When I tried harder and secured the feed tube, everything worked. I'm filtering water from a Florida well that has a slight metallic taste. I tried the water from this filter in parallel with unfiltered well water and almost choked on the unfiltered metallic aroma. I have tried the water from this filter and the Filltrete water filter from my fridge and they taste identical. The pipes in my house are old and the overall pressure is lower than city water. I filled a liter jar from a faucet with no filter in 50 seconds. Once installed, the gallon jar was filled in 50 seconds. A week after installation, a gallon jug fills up in 58 seconds. I will update this review if time shows I have to change this filter too often due to my crappy water. The attached photo shows my setup. The large hole in the closet and plaster was made over 30 years ago when the house was last piped and has nothing to do with the installation of this filter. I recently replaced the plumbing when installing a new faucet. The curious arrangement of the lines on the side of the case allowed me to install the filter on the front of the case, making future filter changes easier. Please excuse the previous owner for the decision to install vinyl flooring on the bottom of the kitchen cabinet. derp
