I bought one of the original versions of this strap a few years ago. The ball joint was worn out, so I looked at every replacement I could find. Most of these systems use a tripod mounting hole on the bottom of the camera. This strap has a mounting plate with threaded holes so you can mount a tripod quick release plate on it, so you don't have to remove anything to use the tripod. Black Rapid and other products require you to remove their mount from the tripod hole before attaching the tripod quick release plate and vice versa. It sucks.
