I keep real aquariums and have had 13 in the last few years. A few days ago I heard a bang downstairs and as I went downstairs I smelled burning plastic. I literally had to follow my nose. I finally found a shrimp tank with a dead heater and the smell was awful. There was soot on the surface of the water but luckily it didn't kill my shrimp. It happened again this morning, in the aquarium with the roosters upstairs. The smell is pungent and another heater has burned out. Now I have to go through and replace any heaters that are still working. I don't want to risk a house fire. These heaters should not be sold until some form of quality control has been carried out.
