I had a shower leak and was trying various ways to fix it. First there was this insole which didn't solve the problem. I then replaced the entire value and mixer which stopped the leak. In hindsight, however, the problem was probably a worn denomination disc. He ended up spending $100 on a probable $1 fix. If you're here about a leak, I suggest replacing the washer first. Leaks are almost never a problem with this grip insert and you can easily check this by tightening the grip screw with pliers and see if there is any leakage then it is not a problem with the grip insert.
