Review on πŸ”§ Moen 93980 Handle Mechanism Kit: Perfect Solution for One-Handle Kitchen Faucet Repairs by Kevin Williams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked on an *old* 7400 faucet (possibly a flat Eagle series)

We have a very old faucet - it's definitely a 7400 faucet (marked on the faucet stem) and I think it is Eagle series low profile. It flowed out of the faucet spout unless you turned the knob all the way to the right or all the way to the left. First, we disassembled and reassembled old parts several times. Still leaked. We then decided to have our plumber install a new faucet, but the nut underneath was still there. one would have to actually remove the shell and therefore destroy the gauge to get there. Bought this kit and replaced all the "above" parts from the cartridge. Voila - no leaks. Very happy. However. The parts are not labeled and as the kit also includes parts for the 7100 series (I think) this is a bit confusing. And the assembly instructions aren't the best *especially* the close-up of the most important part of the assembly. We thought one part was defective (the white plastic pivot stop) even though it was identical to the original as it didn't sit flush, so we just laid the parts in the correct orientation and screwed everything in place. This created another problem: as we learned from experience assembling old parts for the first time, you must use an allen wrench to hold the brass rod in place while you screw in the nut (requiring the brass rod to be pulled up to clear the hole to open, into which the hexagon is inserted.) key. Sooooo not clear on the directions.

Cons
