Review on πŸ”„ Martelli Roundabout Set - 16-inch Turntable with Cutting Mat and Ironing Pad by Karla Richter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful rotating cutting board

If you are expecting a cutting board from Olfa you will be disappointed but fear not, although it is different it is still very beautiful. The fabric "slides" over it differently and isn't as rubbery when cut. The turntable itself is a bit surprising when you first use it because of the background noise, not bad, but you can certainly hear "lazy susan" ball bearings underneath. I suspect this is partly because, unlike other smaller turntables, this is made with some thickness, allowing us to lean a bit while using it without damaging the internal mechanics. Whatever I did, it slipped a bit on both the turntable and the cutting surface. This prevents him from slipping and gives him a grip. I would recommend the manufacturer to put some non-slip plywood underneath. The smell when using it with a steam iron isn't that hot, and definitely don't put the iron near the cutting mat as it will melt things and smear the marks (one of the reasons I decided to solve the slip problem ). Using a rotating cutting mat takes a bit of getting used to, but it really does make things a lot more efficient once you get into the groove and repeatedly cut small to small/medium items with both a disc cutter and a good pair of scissors. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I don't have any other rotary cutting mats to compare.
