Photo 1 shows how it works. Simply screw the rack to the wire mesh. The compression keeps it in place. After doing all four and adding the bikes it was very shaky and didn't feel secure at all. When I was about to shoot them, I unscrewed the nuts and the racks just fell off. Not good! Photo 2 shows the modification I made. I went to Home Depot and bought a 4 foot piece of 1/8 inch flat steel, about $15. Drilled some holes and bought HDG 3/8 x 1.5 inch bolts, nuts and washers. After everything was set, it was added by bikes. that thing is tight! Very durable and I feel great riding it. I use 2 sets of straps and it's very durable. I would be suspicious of using this without modification. If the fine wire mesh breaks, goodbye bikes and probably a lawsuit.
