Review on πŸ–οΈ Prismacolor Premier NuPastel Firm Pastel Color Sticks, 96-Count - Multicolor by Tara Ford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

25% broken on arrival. Do not worry!

I love (and use) this product. Solid pastels offer options that soft pastels don't, so mixing gives you the best of both worlds. 96 is the full range of Prismacolor colors and for work mixing soft and hard pastels this should be sufficient. Over 20 of the 96 pastels arrived broken. The pastel powder had leaked out between the box and the packaging, leaving the box stained with pastel powder. I bought such a set in an art store a year ago and the situation was the same. So I don't know if it's due to Revain or Prismacolor that the product didn't arrive in perfect condition. The bottom line is; Cracked pastels don't bother me and I still take them out of the box to include in my other pastels. So the price of this product is great for what you get: nice pigments and nice square edges for blocking out large shapes and fine detail work. If you've worked with pastels for a while, you know it's a very messy business, and century-old European soft pastels have the same breakage problems. It really doesn't matter much. Go to YouTube and check out the palettes of professional pastel artists. The first thing they do with a new pastel pencil before putting it in the palette box is: break it!

Pros
  • Drawing
Cons
