Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 917-327 Transmission Fluid Measuring Tool: Perfect fit for Select Models by Earl Ton

Maybe better than spares

This is a great gauge for most NAG1 gearboxes. There's a downside, though: the metal tip doesn't easily fit onto the bottom of the gear pan, depending on what gearing you have. If you have a Chrysler 722.6/NAG1/W5A580 built with a white conductive plate (Dorman 917-678, 1402701261, 52108308AC, 68021352AA) this probe will work fine. The hole in the conductive plate is large and easily passes through a fairly large metal spike. If you have a Mercedes Benz Build 722.6 (W5J400 etc) that uses a black top conductive plate (Dorman 917-679, 1402701161, 2035400253, 68049181AA) this probe will not fit well through the plate to the bottom of the oil pan. The probe hole on this conductive plate is smaller and rounder. The tip of the pen enters the hole, but it's not very good when the pen approaches the hole at a slight angle. To remedy this I went to the tip of the grinding wheel to make it smaller and with a little bevel. It fits now, but I'll probably grind it a little more to make sure I'm getting the right readings when I get to the bottom of the swamp. And ignore any negative feedback about the probe being too long. It should be as long and should NOT be left in the car.
